Free tools for an Estonian company

Six tools, each answer from an official source — and with each answer the service it calls for, with its price.

In short

Seven free tools for an Estonian company, each answering from an official source: the commercial register's open data (RIK), the European Commission's VIES service, the Commercial Code and the Police and Border Guard Board. None needs a sign-up. Each answer also shows the service it calls for, priced from our price list — and you decide. The page is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Is the company name free?

Company name check — your name against every name in the commercial register, by the rule the registrar applies (Commercial Code § 11(2)). A free name leads to the formation packages; a taken one to free variants and a ready-made company.

What does the register show about a company?

Company search — by registry code, VAT number or name. For a private or public limited company it shows the facts of the open data with their dates: VAT number, annual reports, beneficial owners, sales revenue, the address — and the services they call for.

Is a VAT number valid?

EU VAT number check — through VIES, for a VAT-free invoice to a business in another member state. For an Estonian number: EORI and a certificate of residence when it is valid, the VAT application when it is not.

When is the annual report due?

Annual report deadline — six months after the end of the financial year (Commercial Code § 179), also for a financial year that is not the calendar year, with a free reminder by email.

Can I form the company online?

Route finder — three questions: online without a notary, at a notary or by power of attorney, or a ready-made company — the way that fits and its price.

Is my e-Residency card affected?

e-Residency card check — by document number or date of issue: the cards issued between 10 December 2021 and 16 August 2023 (numbers UA0051053 to UA0076261) lose their certificates on 9 December 2026, as the Police and Border Guard Board announced. The check runs in your browser.

How much capital does a MiCA licence need?

MiCA capital calculator — the higher of the Annex IV minimum of the class and one quarter of the fixed overheads (MiCA Art. 67).

One field for all of them

The search field at the top of every page takes a registry code, a VAT number, a company name or words that name a service, and opens the tool that answers it.

Official sources

The laws this article names, by the name of their official text, as read on 9 October 2026. For the Estonian acts we read the English translation in Riigi Teataja; the legally binding text is the Estonian one.

Frequently asked questions

Which free tools do you have for an Estonian company?

Six, each answering from an official source and without a sign-up: the company name check, the company search with what the register shows about a company, the EU VAT number check through VIES, the annual report deadline, the route finder (online, at a notary or a ready-made company) and the MiCA capital calculator. All are on the page Free tools for an Estonian company, in seven languages.

How does the search field at the top of the page work?

Type a registry code (8 digits), a VAT number with its country code, a company name or words that name a service. A code or a registered name opens the company search with what the register shows; a VAT number opens the VAT number check; another name opens the name check; service words show those services on the price list, and a licence opens its own page and form. “Prices” opens the price list and “contact” the contact page, in the language of the page. “Terms”, “invoice”, “refund” or “order” open the terms or the order form, and a question one of our guides answers, such as “foreign director”, opens that guide.

Form or buy your Estonian company

Formation in person, by power of attorney or online, or a ready-made company — each with the registered address and contact person.
